Groupe Beneteau Expands NEO Refit Programme to Eight Models

Sept. 8, 2026 Refit Groupe Beneteau

Groupe Beneteau has expanded its NEO manufacturer-backed refit programme from two models to eight across LAGOON, BENETEAU and JEANNEAU, extending its role in the pre-owned market while accelerating new-model development.

Groupe Beneteau has expanded its NEO manufacturer-backed refit programme from two models to eight across LAGOON, BENETEAU and JEANNEAU, using the opening of the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026 to push further into the pre-owned boat market. The move forms part of a wider strategy that combines accelerated product renewal with services intended to support boats throughout a longer operating life.

The group is presenting the expansion alongside 24 new models for the 2026–2027 season and a broader programme of 66 launches planned between 2025 and 2027. While the model introductions address the new-build market, NEO represents a different commercial proposition: using the manufacturer’s original technical knowledge and industrial capability to modernise existing boats and keep the group involved with vessels beyond their first delivery.

NEO expands from two models to eight

Groupe Beneteau initially developed NEO around two LAGOON models. The programme is now being extended to eight models across three brands, adding BENETEAU and JEANNEAU to the existing LAGOON activity. The group describes the expansion as an effort to give pre-owned boats a second life while making manufacturer-reconditioned and modernised boats accessible to more customers.

The significance is not simply the number of models involved. By bringing three established brands into the same manufacturer-backed refit structure, Groupe Beneteau is moving closer to the resale lifecycle of boats that traditionally pass between owners through brokers, dealers and independent yards after their original delivery.

Original build data becomes part of the refit proposition

One of the central advantages claimed for NEO is the information available to the original manufacturer. Groupe Beneteau says it can draw on detailed knowledge of the boats it designed and built, including original technical data for individual units, as well as the industrial expertise needed to modernise boats and integrate newer technologies.

The work is supported by three specialised Mediterranean sites with direct access to the sea. That gives the group dedicated infrastructure for the programme as well as access to the engineering and production knowledge behind the original boats, creating a different proposition from a refit carried out without direct manufacturer involvement.

Extending boat life becomes part of the environmental strategy

Groupe Beneteau places NEO within an environmental strategy built around four areas: naval architecture, energy management, materials and extending the useful life of existing boats through refit. The company says these measures contribute to its target of reducing Scope 3 carbon-dioxide emissions by 30 per cent by 2030 compared with 2022.

Refit addresses a different part of that programme from developing more efficient new models. Instead of concentrating solely on propulsion or materials used during fresh construction, extending the working life of an existing boat allows systems and equipment to be modernised while preserving a vessel that is already in service. For a large manufacturer with an extensive installed fleet, that creates a second-life activity alongside new production.

The pre-owned market is several times larger than new-boat sales

The commercial rationale is equally important. Groupe Beneteau says that for every new boat sold, between three and five pre-owned boats change hands. That gives the existing fleet a much larger transaction base than annual new production and creates an opportunity for manufacturers to remain involved after the first owner has sold a boat.

NEO therefore extends the customer relationship beyond initial construction and delivery. By participating in refurbishment and modernisation, the manufacturer can support existing boats later in their lives while potentially introducing new customers to LAGOON, BENETEAU and JEANNEAU through reconditioned vessels rather than only through factory-new production.

Product development is accelerating at the same time

The refit expansion comes while Groupe Beneteau is also increasing the pace of new-model development. The company plans 66 launches between 2025 and 2027, a 50 per cent increase in the rate of range renewal compared with the preceding three years. Twenty-three models were launched during 2025, with another 24 scheduled for the 2026–2027 season.

The group says models introduced during 2025 accounted for nearly 30 per cent of first-half 2026 sales, while retail sales over the same period increased by 14 per cent compared with the first half of 2025. To support the development programme, Groupe Beneteau has reorganised product activity around a cross-functional Design Center bringing together product, naval architecture and design expertise.

Cannes puts new boats and second-life strategy side by side

At Cannes, Groupe Beneteau is displaying 56 models, including 18 models from the 2026–2027 programme and 11 world premieres. The breadth of that presentation makes the NEO announcement notable because the company is promoting faster new-product renewal and longer service life for existing boats at the same event rather than treating those objectives as competing strategies.

The strategy extends the manufacturer’s involvement beyond the point of initial delivery. Groupe Beneteau already combines boatbuilding with connected services and owner support, and the expansion of NEO adds manufacturer-backed refit to that lifecycle approach. Moving the programme from two LAGOON models to eight models across three brands gives the group a significantly larger platform on which to test that second-life model in the pre-owned market.
