Frigomar Introduces 210,000 BTU CU210 Yacht Chiller
Frigomar has introduced its CU210VFDT chiller with 210,000 BTU/h capacity, a titanium seawater exchanger and the same compact dimensions as its 180,000 BTU unit.

Italian pool specialist Idea Piscine is preparing an EcoGreen package designed to make swimming-pool systems on large yachts more efficient and easier to manage. Chief executive Emanuele Battistini discussed the programme in a late-September industry interview, describing ongoing development ahead of a fuller presentation rather than claiming that the complete product had already been delivered to a vessel.
The company's stated objectives include better management of water use, pump and filtration energy, water treatment and monitoring. The emphasis is on technology operating beneath the visible pool architecture, where large-yacht builders must accommodate machinery, pipework and service access within areas that guests experience principally as social and wellness spaces.
A swimming pool requires more than a basin of water. Pumps circulate water through filters and treatment equipment, heat may be required to maintain the selected temperature, and automated systems may control treatment parameters to keep the water in a suitable condition. A yacht that operates the pool frequently can therefore face a significant auxiliary load, especially when the crew also needs to manage the vessel's other hospitality and propulsion systems.
Variable-speed pumping is one method of matching output to operating requirements instead of running every circulation function at full power continuously. The appropriate settings depend on turnover rates, water-treatment performance, flow restrictions and applicable pool safety provisions, so the correct configuration must be engineered for each particular installation. A lower electrical demand should never come at the expense of appropriate hygiene or user safety.
Battistini described the development of connected pool technology that can track water quality, temperature, filtration operation and energy consumption, potentially providing operators with centralised monitoring. In a large-yacht installation, such data could help the engineer identify abnormal consumption, filtration issues or servicing requirements before the pool becomes unavailable to guests.
Connecting an amenity system to the yacht's automation network introduces design questions as well as convenience. Equipment should have defined access rights, clear alarms, manual recovery procedures and practical maintenance options when a network connection is unavailable. The public EcoGreen preview does not provide full interoperability specifications, named control-system integrations or verified energy-saving percentages, so none should be assumed.
Idea Piscine also places emphasis on how materials, water-treatment choices and ongoing service affect the lifetime footprint of an installation. The pool's initial construction is only one stage of its environmental and operating cost; heating, chemicals, water replacement, cleaning and component maintenance continue throughout the yacht's service life.
For designers and refit managers, the useful next step is to examine the full equipment schedule, maintenance access and expected operating profile before selecting new automation. A bespoke pool also needs reliable structural, waterproofing and drainage arrangements, which cannot be solved by a control upgrade alone. The company works on custom pools and spa projects in high-end environments, and the official photograph illustrates an Idea Piscine yacht installation rather than a verified EcoGreen prototype.
