ISA Yachts has opened a new chapter in its large-yacht programme with the presentation of the ISA Large Yacht Collection, a design and engineering platform intended for superyachts measuring between 80 and 90 metres. The Italian builder is not describing the initiative as a conventional range of predetermined models. Instead, it is intended to provide the technical foundation for individually commissioned yachts whose exterior styling, interior architecture, accommodation and onboard functions can be developed around a particular owner.
The distinction is important at this scale. An 80-metre-plus superyacht requires extensive work on naval architecture, structure, stability, machinery, safety systems, crew circulation and regulatory compliance before the more visible elements of the design are resolved. ISA's proposition is that a proven underlying platform can reduce avoidable engineering uncertainty while preserving the creative freedom expected from a full-custom project.
Palumbo Superyachts says the collection draws on experience gained from yachts of up to 100 metres. Its current large-project programme includes the ISA Custom 80, ISA Gran Turismo 80 and ISA Gran Turismo 100, while the group also cites the construction of the 80-metre Columbus Classic motor yacht Dragon as part of the technical background supporting the new platform.
The first project developed for the collection is Amarcord 82, an 82-metre full-displacement motor yacht designed by Nuvolari Lenard. The studio has given the yacht a long, sculpted profile in which a substantial six-deck volume is moderated by sweeping horizontal lines, broad areas of glazing and numerous openings within the hull and superstructure.
ISA lists a maximum beam of 12.80 metres, a draught of 3.65 metres and an internal volume of approximately 2,200GT. The construction specification combines a steel hull with an aluminium-alloy superstructure, a well-established arrangement for a displacement yacht intended to provide considerable volume, range and seakeeping capability.
The concept remains a design project rather than an announced build. ISA did not disclose an owner, construction start or delivery schedule when it presented the Large Yacht Collection, leaving the final arrangement open to the requirements of a future client.
Amarcord's stern is one of the clearest expressions of the project's intended onboard experience. The aft section opens into a broad platform directly connected with the beach club, while two large fold-down side terraces extend the usable area around the water. Together, these elements create a sea-level environment that can operate as a bathing platform, lounge and arrival space.
Above the beach club, a glass-bottomed swimming pool forms the focal point of the main-deck aft area. Its transparent base is intended to carry natural light into the deck below, linking two major leisure spaces through the architecture rather than treating the pool as a self-contained feature. The arrangement continues a wider movement in large-yacht design towards stern areas that function as primary social destinations rather than merely service zones for tenders and toys.
The upper decks have also been conceived as a succession of leisure spaces, including panoramic lounges, open-air dining areas, swimming pools and informal gathering zones. Expansive windows and carefully positioned openings are used to maintain views of the sea and reduce the visual division between interior accommodation and exterior decks.
ISA has developed Amarcord 82 around what it describes as wellbeing and liveability. The owner's suite occupies more than 100 square metres and is intended to function as a private residence rather than simply a large sleeping cabin. The shipyard's technical specification lists accommodation for 12 guests in seven cabins, including the owner's apartment and at least five VIP cabins identified in the launch announcement.
Up to 20 crew members can be accommodated in 11 cabins. That level of crew provision reflects the demands of an 82-metre yacht expected to support prolonged cruising, technical operations and a high standard of guest service. The final relationship between owner, guest and crew spaces would remain part of the custom design process, allowing the platform to be adapted for private family use, formal entertaining or other operating priorities.
Power is specified as a pair of MTU 16V4000 M63L engines. ISA projects a maximum speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, with an estimated range of 6,200 nautical miles at 12 knots. Those figures place the yacht firmly within the long-range displacement category and would permit major ocean passages without unusually frequent refuelling stops.
The combination of a full-displacement hull, 2,200GT volume and transoceanic range makes Amarcord more than a styling exercise. Its principal leisure areas and residential accommodation are supported by the endurance required for extended operation beyond the familiar Mediterranean and Caribbean seasonal circuits.
The Large Yacht Collection arrives as ISA continues to develop projects at the upper end of its portfolio. Its programme of 80-to-100-metre yachts is intended to provide the design, construction and supply-chain experience needed for future commissions of this scale.
For a prospective owner, the value of the new collection will depend on how successfully ISA combines a mature technical foundation with genuine freedom over the finished yacht. Platform-based construction can make early development more efficient, but the result must still feel individually conceived rather than derived from a fixed product.
Amarcord 82 therefore serves both as a complete design proposal and as a demonstration of a broader construction strategy. It introduces a large, long-range yacht with a strong connection to the water, while establishing the engineering basis from which ISA intends to develop fully custom projects between 80 and 90 metres.
