Saudi entertainment and hospitality company Sela has signed agreements to establish the Red Sea Yacht Show and support a dedicated superyacht maintenance facility in Jeddah.
Jeddah's superyacht infrastructure is set to expand on two fronts after Saudi company Sela signed separate Monaco Yacht Show agreements covering a new international yacht show and a specialist maintenance facility. Together the projects target both visiting yachts and year-round technical support in the Red Sea.
Sela and Tahaluf plan to stage the inaugural Red Sea Yacht Show from 14 to 17 October 2027 at Jeddah Yacht Club and Marina. Organisers are targeting around fifty yachts, 150 exhibitors and more than 10,000 visitors for the first edition.
The event is intended to connect builders, suppliers, owners and operators with the expanding Saudi marine market. Its timing and location also give developing Red Sea destinations a dedicated commercial platform outside the traditional Mediterranean show calendar.
Sela and ICON Saudi have also signed a memorandum of understanding for a dedicated superyacht maintenance facility in Jeddah. The aim is to build local technical capability and bring specialist international expertise closer to yachts operating in the region.
Large yachts currently requiring major work may need to reposition significant distances to established facilities elsewhere. A credible local maintenance base could reduce those movements and make longer Red Sea programmes more practical for owners and captains.
The show would attract international yachts and companies to Jeddah, while the proposed service facility could support vessels between events and during wider regional cruising. That creates a more complete yachting proposition than a marina or exhibition operating alone.
The strategy also fits Saudi Arabia's broader tourism and economic-diversification goals by linking hospitality, events, technical employment and maritime services. Skills transfer will be important if the maintenance centre is to develop beyond basic servicing into complex superyacht work.
The maintenance agreement does not yet specify investment value, opening date, lifting capacity or the maximum yacht size the facility will handle. Those details will determine whether the site competes for major refits or focuses initially on maintenance and technical support.
For the industry, the significance is the direction of travel: Jeddah is trying to add service depth alongside berthing and events. If delivered, the combination could strengthen the Red Sea as a genuine operating region rather than a destination yachts only visit briefly.
