Monaco Smart Marina Awards Highlight Robotic Charging and Mooring Technology

From a gathering to concrete award results

The sixth Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous has concluded with awards for technologies addressing practical challenges in marinas, from charging electric craft to reducing loads on moorings. Organiser M3 Monaco published the event outcome on 22 September after two days at Yacht Club de Monaco, where representatives from 30 nationalities considered energy, biodiversity, investment and digital systems.

Unlike advance announcements about the event, these results identify the actual winning solutions and their development stages. They are a useful reference for yacht owners, captains and marina operators comparing proposed infrastructure upgrades.

Charging without a fixed connection at every berth

Swiss company Kolbev received the pre-revenue innovation award for a mobile robotic electric-boat charging solution. The concept is intended to let marina operators serve different berths while assessing the demand for more extensive permanent infrastructure.

The award recognises the proposed approach and its relevance to marina operations, not proof that it has already been deployed at every intended site. A marina considering the technology still has to verify electrical capacity, vessel compatibility, safety and charging arrangements.

Energy use and dynamic mooring loads

Finland's The Warming Surfaces Company was recognised in the post-revenue category for Halia low-voltage heating integrated into surfaces and interior fittings. Italy's Seares took the scaling-revenue award with SeaDamp, a mechatronic mooring system designed to absorb wave-driven movement and reduce forces on vessels and infrastructure.

These are different engineering problems, so the award categories should not be collapsed into one product comparison. Actual energy savings and mooring performance must be assessed against installation, operating conditions and independent test evidence.

Waterfront design and biodiversity

Nemo's Garden received an innovation distinction for its underwater growing biospheres, while Jasper Architects won the professional architecture award for a proposal concerning Opatija Marina in Croatia. The event also explored biodiversity monitoring, shore power and ways to finance marina upgrades.

The source publication and its event-specific image document the result, while the individual technology providers remain the appropriate sources for detailed specifications. A prize is a meaningful industry recognition but is not itself technical certification or proof of a completed marina installation.
