Navantia is using its standalone Monaco Yacht Show presence to strengthen Cartagena’s position as a Mediterranean superyacht repair and modernisation hub.

Navantia is stepping up its push into the luxury-yacht and superyacht repair market after exhibiting with its own standalone stand at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show. The Spanish group used the event to promote its Cartagena shipyard’s capabilities in repair, conversion, maintenance and modernisation, supported by facilities designed for very large yachts.

A dedicated superyacht push at Monaco

Navantia says its 2026 Monaco appearance was the first time the company attended the show with its own standalone exhibition stand rather than sharing space. A specialist Repair Services delegation met yacht owners, representatives, technical managers and other industry stakeholders during the four-day event.

The dedicated presence matters because Navantia is positioning yacht work as a distinct commercial activity within a much larger shipbuilding and repair group. The company used Monaco to promote Cartagena directly to decision-makers who plan complex refit periods, technical upgrades and long-term maintenance programmes for large yachts.

Cartagena combines heavy infrastructure with yacht services

Navantia’s Cartagena yard includes a 150-metre syncrolift rated to 5,000 tonnes with eleven parking positions, together with quays extending to 1,300 metres. The facility also has a 214-metre dry dock, a 3,000-square-metre multipurpose workshop and cranes rated up to 30 tonnes.

Those dimensions allow the yard to address projects well beyond routine cosmetic refits. Navantia lists work on engines, generators, propellers, shafts, stabilisers, hydraulic systems, electrical equipment, structural steel, paint systems, interiors and teak, giving the yard the ability to coordinate several technical disciplines during one yard period.

More than 60 megayacht projects since 2015

Navantia states that Cartagena has completed more than 60 megayacht repair projects since 2015. Its published reference list includes yachts such as Bravo Eugenia, Vibrant Curiosity, Here Comes The Sun, Nord, SY A, Sunrays, Al Lusail and Prince Abdulaziz across different years.

The breadth of that history is important because superyacht refit work frequently combines engineering, survey requirements and owner-driven changes under tight schedules. A yard with experience across multiple yacht sizes and systems can draw on established lifting, subcontractor and project-management procedures rather than building a support structure around each project from scratch.

Crew support is part of the refit offer

Navantia also promotes bilingual crew assistance, accommodation support, transfers and local services while yachts are in the yard. That reflects the practical reality of a long refit, when captains and crew may remain near the vessel for weeks or months while contractors, surveyors and technical specialists cycle through the project.

Superyacht Guide is treating the Monaco update as a business-development and refit-capability story rather than a claim of a newly signed yacht contract. Navantia has confirmed the dedicated show presence and Cartagena facilities, while individual future projects would require separate yacht-specific announcements before being reported as booked work.
