Palumbo Superyachts Refit Becomes Palumbo Upfit as Group Expands Lifecycle Yacht Support

Palumbo Superyachts Refit has adopted the new Palumbo Upfit identity as the Mediterranean shipyard network broadens the way it presents maintenance, repair and technical services to yacht owners and crews. The change, effective from 3 September 2026, reflects a move away from treating refit solely as an individual yard period and towards supporting a yacht through successive stages of its operational life.

Palumbo moves beyond the traditional refit label

Refit remains central to the operation, but Palumbo says the Upfit name better describes the wider scope the business has developed. Maintenance, repair, conversions, technical upgrades, engineering, structural work and interiors are being brought together within an approach intended to maintain technical understanding of a yacht between separate interventions.

The official announcement describes the change as a new name for an approach that has been evolving for years rather than the creation of a different company. Palumbo is positioning the network around continuity, with knowledge and responsibility intended to carry forward as a yacht returns for maintenance, modification or more substantial conversion work.

Seven shipyards across four countries

Palumbo says the Upfit network comprises seven Mediterranean shipyards across four countries, allowing owners and crews to plan work according to technical requirements, timing and cruising programmes. The group's current corporate information already identifies Palumbo Upfit operations including Naples, Malta and Marseille within that wider network.

The combined facilities cover more than 44.5 hectares and include 5.6 kilometres of berthing, 10 dry docks reaching 268 metres and seven floating docks with lifting capacity of up to 40,000 tonnes. Four travel lifts and a syncrolift rated to 3,300 tonnes add further haul-out capacity across the network.

Lifecycle support becomes the central proposition

The Upfit approach places greater emphasis on connecting individual projects over time rather than treating each yard visit in isolation. Preventive maintenance, technical upgrades, interior work, structural modifications and larger conversions can therefore form part of a longer sequence while project knowledge remains within the Palumbo organisation.

For owners and captains, the practical measure of that strategy will be whether continuity between yards and successive projects simplifies planning and reduces the need to rebuild technical knowledge at every visit. Palumbo's geographic spread gives the group the ability to direct different phases of work to facilities that suit a yacht's size, location and programme.

Palumbo Group traces its ship-repair roots to Naples in 1967 and remains family-led. Palumbo Upfit therefore represents a new identity for an established refit network, with the strategic emphasis shifting from individual yard periods towards longer-term support through the operational lifecycle of a yacht.
