Procursea has launched a superyacht-focused procurement app with AI part recognition, supplier search and joined-up purchase approval workflows. Its iPad app screens are shown in the article.

A new approach to ordering parts at sea

Marine software developer Procursea has introduced an application intended to reduce the time superyacht crews spend sourcing equipment, comparing supplier quotations and recording purchase decisions. The product was featured by Superyacht Technology on 15 October 2026, with the developer describing an integrated workflow for inventory, requests for quotation and purchasing.

The launch builds on a mobile app already listed in Apple's App Store, so the October announcement should be understood as a wider product and distribution update rather than proof that no earlier software version existed. Procursea's public site is aimed specifically at professional yachts and the departments responsible for ordering spare parts, stores and provisions.

The everyday problem is fragmented information

Engineering, deck and interior teams often raise requirements through a mixture of notes, emails, messaging platforms and spreadsheets. A missing part number can trigger repeated questions, while competing quotes may arrive in different formats and require manual comparison. The resulting administrative work is particularly noticeable when a vessel has only a short port call in which to receive parts.

Procursea proposes to combine the initial request, technical description, suppliers, quotes, approval and purchase record. The concept is that a crew member should be able to follow the progress of an order without searching unrelated conversations. Actual time saved will depend on the quality of the vessel's existing procedures and the availability of responsive suppliers.

A camera helps identify technical components

The mobile application includes an AI Visual Scan feature intended to read identifying information from a photograph of a part. Procursea says the system can suggest a manufacturer, model number and specifications, which can then be added to the vessel's inventory or procurement request. Its example involves a seawater pump used by an engineering department.

Photographic recognition is a starting point, not a replacement for engineering verification. Similar-looking valves, pumps and filters may differ in materials, voltage, dimensions or operating limits. Crews remain responsible for confirming exact compatibility, consulting technical drawings and checking replacement specifications with the equipment manufacturer where necessary.

One RFQ can reach more than one supplier

According to the company's announcement, a request for quotation can be distributed to relevant suppliers rather than prepared separately for every chandler. Replies are intended to return in a comparable form within the same procurement record. The service also offers supplier search by location, which could help when a yacht arrives at an unfamiliar port.

Procursea promotes access to a network of thousands of suppliers, with further additions expected as the platform develops. The number of entries does not guarantee that a given item is in stock or can be delivered before departure. Supplier verification, customs clearance, local taxes and the practical detail of delivery to the yacht still need attention.

Approval rules matter to captains and pursers

Professional yachts often separate the person requesting an item from the manager who authorises the expenditure. Procursea includes configurable approval rules so a request can be referred to a captain or another appropriate person before the purchase order is issued. Quotations, decisions and later invoices can then remain attached to the same record.

The arrangement may help explain why an item was purchased and which offer was accepted, particularly where department budgets are managed centrally. It also means user roles and access permissions should be planned carefully. Not every crew member should necessarily see confidential costs, supplier banking details or all areas of a yacht's financial records.

Inventory and department budgets connect

The product extends beyond generating RFQ emails by offering storage of parts and inventory data, departmental purchasing histories and export options. Its public materials show workflows covering delivery confirmation and invoice reconciliation, with costs allocated to the relevant department. The iPad screenshot accompanying this article is taken from the developer's official App Store listing and depicts actual product interfaces.

Those capabilities should be examined in the context of a yacht's existing management and accounting arrangements. A supplier's example workflow cannot establish that every integration is already operating in every customer environment. Owners and captains should ask to see practical demonstrations using representative parts and approval scenarios before switching systems.

Security and crew training are part of deployment

Centralising procurement can reduce duplicated administration, but it also concentrates information about yacht operations, suppliers and purchases. Procursea publishes information-security policies and refers to established security frameworks as design guidance. Its October policy specifically says the company is not certified under ISO 27001 or SOC 2, a distinction prospective enterprise customers should understand.

Captains should examine account access, data export, backups and procedures for departing crew as part of any software evaluation. A technical demonstration should include the ability to correct AI results and to recover essential purchase information when onboard connectivity is unreliable. A useful rollout will also require training that matches the responsibilities of individual departments.

The commercial decision needs a realistic trial

Procursea markets subscription options for different crew sizes, with higher tiers offering a larger number of seats. Pricing and onboarding arrangements should be confirmed directly with the developer because offers, taxes and service scope can change. The App Store describes the mobile download as free, which should not be confused with a guarantee that a complete vessel-wide procurement system has no operating cost.

The 15 October announcement is relevant because professional yacht crews often manage complex sourcing tasks with small teams and urgent deadlines. A properly configured system may improve traceability, but published productivity benefits remain company claims rather than independently tested savings. The next practical step for a yacht is to check how the software behaves with real suppliers and purchasing policies.

The mobile screenshots show the developer's real interface rather than an illustration of an imaginary yacht. They help readers judge the organisation of the procurement screens, but cannot verify response times, supplier quality or results in an actual vessel. Before committing operational records to a platform, managers can request a data-processing agreement and clarify whether crew have a way to export all purchase histories in a usable format. Trialling a low-risk department first may reveal which existing procedures need changing and which should be preserved. A successful implementation should leave the vessel with clearer records, not simply move its administration from one screen to another.
