Frigomar Introduces 210,000 BTU CU210 Yacht Chiller
Frigomar has introduced its CU210VFDT chiller with 210,000 BTU/h capacity, a titanium seawater exchanger and the same compact dimensions as its 180,000 BTU unit.
RiversEdge Composites highlights high-density recycled DUC transom boards and composite backing materials, with implications for tender construction and marine fabrication.
RiversEdge Composites has highlighted its recycled high-density transom board offering to the US marine equipment market during the 2026 boatbuilding trade-show season. The Florida manufacturer makes DUC Board products using post-industrial material streams and proprietary binders, including transom cores, backing boards and tooling materials. Its presence on the IBEX exhibitor-release register adds the company to the conversation around alternative boatbuilding materials.
Unlike a decorative composite surface, transom and backing-board materials may be required to resist significant local loads, fastener forces and repeated exposure to moisture. A manufacturer claiming the benefits of recycled feedstocks therefore needs consistent production and appropriate mechanical performance evidence. The company describes DUC as a pressed high-density product rather than an ordinary sheet of plastic or a direct substitute for every existing laminate schedule.
RiversEdge lists DUC Transom Board at approximately 38 pounds per cubic foot, intended as a high-strength substitute for suitable marine plywood-core applications. The company says it can supply standard and custom thicknesses and use net-shape compression moulding to form parts according to the customer's geometry. These are design capabilities, not universal approval for a particular engine mounting or hull structure.
Other products in the range include a 35-pound-per-cubic-foot board for floors, inserts and backers; an 80-pound-per-cubic-foot grade aimed at applications requiring higher screw retention; and a 55-pound-per-cubic-foot tooling board. Specifiers must not confuse the ranges simply because they share the DUC name, as density, fastener behaviour, stiffness and intended service can vary between grades.
Superyacht tenders and utility craft require reliable local structure around outboard installations, deck fittings, service access, seating and equipment foundations. Those locations can create demand for engineered core and backing products, especially where a yard seeks reduced moisture sensitivity compared with certain timber-based arrangements. The material would need a full assessment against its laminate, bonding resin and loading regime before being approved for any critical structure.
A refit manager should also be cautious when replacing existing wet or damaged core material. A panel's stiffness, thickness, bonding preparation and attachment to adjacent laminates all affect its performance, and changing one layer can transfer loads elsewhere. Where classification, flag requirements or manufacturer instructions govern the repair, the actual material certificates and engineering approval remain decisive.
RiversEdge manufactures urethane sheet foams, custom foam-and-fiberglass preforms and its DUC board family at New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The business emphasises recycled industrial inputs and custom fabrication as means of reducing material waste and tailoring products to repeatable construction tasks.
Using recycled material is an interesting part of marine manufacturing's transition, but it does not by itself establish a complete environmental comparison with plywood or other composites. Service life, energy input, resin compatibility and end-of-life handling need to be considered alongside recycled content. The manufacturer's original product photograph accompanying this report shows DUC Transom Board, not a claim of installation on any particular yacht.
