26.7m Sanlorenzo SX88 ZAFFIRO III Listed for Sale at €4.75 Million

Northrop & Johnson has added the 26.7-metre Sanlorenzo SX88 ZAFFIRO III to its sales fleet at an asking price of €4.75 million, bringing a highly customised example of Sanlorenzo’s crossover series onto the brokerage market after an extensive programme of maintenance and upgrades. Delivered in 2020 as hull 39 of the SX88 series, the yacht is represented by Northrop & Johnson brokers Monty Batt and Richard Higgins and, according to the brokerage’s 7 September announcement, is currently located in Palma de Mallorca.

ZAFFIRO III combines the SX platform’s open-stern arrangement with four guest cabins, triple Volvo Penta IPS propulsion and a specification developed around Mediterranean cruising and extended periods aboard. Northrop & Johnson describes the yacht as a particularly well-equipped example of the model, with substantial customisation inside and out and further investment made during 2024 and a major yard period in 2026.

A customised example of the Sanlorenzo SX88

ZAFFIRO III measures 26.7 metres overall with a beam of 7.21 metres and a gross tonnage of 112 GT in Northrop & Johnson’s detailed specification. Her GRP hull and superstructure use Sanlorenzo’s fast-displacement SX platform, with naval architecture and hull design credited to Lou Codega and Sanlorenzo and exterior design by Officina Italiana Design.

The SX88 was conceived around a crossover philosophy that combines elements associated with explorer-style yachts, contemporary flybridge designs and large open day boats. On ZAFFIRO III, that approach is particularly visible at the stern, where the aft deck can carry a tender and water toys while underway before being cleared to form a substantial waterside guest area once the yacht is at anchor.

A hull-integrated hydraulic crane rated to 1,000 kilograms supports that arrangement, allowing the open stern to work as a practical equipment deck during passages and as part of the yacht’s exterior living environment when the toys are launched. A hydraulic swim platform extends the connection with the water and provides another access point for swimming and tender operations.

Four cabins accommodate up to nine guests

Accommodation is arranged for up to nine guests in four ensuite cabins. The full-beam owner’s suite is complemented by a VIP double and two guest cabins, with additional flexibility provided by a Pullman berth in the starboard cabin and a convertible sliding-bed arrangement in the port guest cabin. Separate crew accommodation is provided for up to three.

The interior has been extensively customised beyond a standard production specification. Northrop & Johnson lists brushed matt grey spruce joinery, parquet flooring, brushed-metal detailing and extensive Panda White marble, while furniture from Living Divani, Cassina and Poltrona Frau contributes to a contemporary Italian character. Floor-to-ceiling glazing brings natural light into the main salon, which flows forward into a formal dining area.

The flybridge becomes an all-weather guest space

One of ZAFFIRO III’s distinctive features is an air-conditioned flybridge fitted with an electrically opening hardtop. The area includes a bar, grill, icemaker, dining arrangement, lounge seating and sun loungers, allowing the upper deck to function as an additional guest space rather than simply an exposed helm and sunbathing area.

That enclosed-versus-open flexibility is particularly useful for a yacht operating through a long Mediterranean season, where the flybridge may need to provide shade and climate control during hotter periods while remaining capable of opening to the surrounding environment when conditions are more comfortable. The specification also includes custom teak dining furniture and upgraded exterior furnishings.

Triple IPS propulsion gives a 23-knot maximum speed

Propulsion comes from three Volvo Penta D13B engines coupled to IPS3 1050 drives, each producing approximately 800 hp. Northrop & Johnson’s full specification gives an approximate cruising speed of 20 knots and maximum speed of 23 knots, with an economical cruising setting of about 10 knots and an estimated range of approximately 1,210 nautical miles at that speed.

Fuel capacity is listed at 9,300 litres and fresh-water capacity at 2,000 litres. Volvo Penta IPS joystick control is provided at the principal helm and aft docking position, while CMC Marine electric fin stabilisers operate both underway and at anchor. The combination of IPS manoeuvrability and zero-speed stabilisation is particularly relevant for an owner using the yacht extensively around Mediterranean marinas and anchorages.

Recent work prepares ZAFFIRO III for a new owner

The sales campaign follows continued investment in the yacht rather than a simple return to market in her original 2020 condition. Exterior furniture was substantially refreshed during late 2024, including new custom teak tables and furniture from Poltrona Frau and Cassina, while the brokerage also records renewed sunshades and anchor chains among the more recent improvements.

Northrop & Johnson records an extensive yard period during 2026. Work included haul-out and antifouling, Propspeed application, replacement of 22 hull anodes, generator and air-conditioning servicing, swimming-platform work, attention to the anchor windlass and gearbox, and servicing of life-saving and fire-fighting equipment.

Those works are relevant to the current €4.75 million asking price because they place much of the yacht’s recent technical maintenance into the sales record rather than leaving a prospective buyer to assess a largely undocumented service history. The combination of a relatively recent Sanlorenzo platform and a substantial programme of recent investment gives the listing a different profile from older brokerage yachts returning to market after longer periods without major yard work.

Palma listing places the yacht in a major Mediterranean market

Northrop & Johnson’s 7 September sales announcement places ZAFFIRO III in Palma de Mallorca, one of the Mediterranean’s principal yacht brokerage, refit and service centres. That location gives prospective buyers access to inspections while the yacht remains within an established operational environment for survey work, maintenance and onward Mediterranean cruising.
