Intellian Antennas Support Telesat Lightspeed Gateway in France

A new ground facility for satellite connectivity

Orange and Telesat announced on 17 September 2026 that the first European gateway for Telesat Lightspeed had been commissioned. The facility is hosted at Orange’s teleport in Bercenay-en-Othe, France.

Intellian Technologies supplies the advanced gateway antennas used at the site. This is a ground-infrastructure milestone and should not be read as an announcement that every yacht can already buy a live Lightspeed terminal service.

How the gateway fits the network

Telesat’s initial planned constellation contains 225 satellites, with gateways connecting space assets to terrestrial data networks. Orange will provide the secure high-speed network path from the French teleport to a planned point of presence in Paris.

The companies describe low-latency and resilient communications as design goals for mission-critical customers. Actual user service, geographic coverage and hardware requirements must be confirmed when commercial offerings become available.

Why yacht managers are interested

Satellite connectivity supports navigation updates, operational communications, guest services and remote support on modern yachts. Additional network options could eventually help managers balance coverage, resilience and supplier relationships.

There is no basis here for replacing an existing vessel’s system on the strength of a single gateway opening. Antenna size, bandwidth, contracts and maritime terminal approval are separate purchasing questions.

The supplier role in context

Intellian’s contribution concerns the gateway antennas rather than an installed yacht antenna in this specific project. Orange and Telesat are responsible for the wider network announcement.
