39m CERVO Wins Class at Ibiza JoySail After Strong 2026 Regatta Season

Vitters-built 39-metre sailing yacht CERVO has taken first in class at Ibiza JoySail 2026 after what Vitters Shipyard describes as a string of wins across the week. The result adds another competitive milestone to a season in which the yacht has appeared repeatedly on the Mediterranean superyacht-regatta circuit.

Vitters says the campaign has been marked by increasingly tight teamwork and improving performance as the crew has accumulated more racing time together. The yard also points to CERVO’s maintenance and management as part of the reason an older performance yacht can continue to compete effectively against newer and highly developed sailing superyachts.

CERVO began life as Cinderella IV

The yacht was delivered by Vitters in 2009 as Cinderella IV and remains part of the Dutch yard’s sailing-yacht fleet history. At 39 metres, she sits in the performance-cruiser category where racing success depends on the interaction between naval architecture, sail handling, systems reliability and a crew that can repeatedly execute manoeuvres cleanly under pressure.

A change of name does not alter the underlying platform, but years of operation place greater emphasis on disciplined upkeep and optimisation. Vitters’ comment that the yacht remains impeccably maintained is therefore significant because performance campaigns can expose wear, calibration issues and small reliability weaknesses much faster than ordinary cruising use.

The 2026 season has kept the yacht in active competition

Earlier in the year Vitters listed CERVO among its yachts entering the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta in Porto Cervo and the Superyacht Cup Palma. That programme means the Ibiza result is not an isolated appearance but part of a broader season in which the yacht and crew have repeatedly tested themselves against other large sailing yachts.

Successive regattas allow a team to refine sail selection, manoeuvre timing and communication while learning how the yacht responds across different wind strengths and course types. For an established yacht, that accumulated knowledge can be as important as individual hardware upgrades because race performance is ultimately the product of both the boat and the people operating it.

Ibiza JoySail has become a significant late-season test

Ibiza JoySail brings the Mediterranean superyacht racing season toward its conclusion with a fleet based around the Balearics. Its class structure lets yachts with different dimensions and performance characteristics compete within rating systems intended to create meaningful racing rather than rewarding size or raw speed alone.

CERVO’s first-in-class result therefore reflects performance across the scored programme rather than a single straight-line speed figure. Vitters says the yacht produced multiple wins during the week, giving the final class victory a consistent competitive basis and extending the yard’s long record of seeing its sailing yachts race after delivery.

Longevity is part of the performance story

For builders, regatta results are also a public test of how well a yacht’s original design and construction stand up over time. CERVO’s 2009 delivery date means the current programme is being run more than fifteen years after launch, when maintenance quality, refit decisions and systems support become central to preserving the platform’s capability.

The Ibiza win does not by itself measure cruising comfort or lifecycle cost, but it does show that an established yacht can remain competitive when its technical condition and crew programme are sustained. For Vitters, that gives the result a second value beyond the trophy: it demonstrates continuing performance from one of the yard’s earlier modern sailing projects.
