Ibiza JoySail 2026 Set for 20-Superyacht Fleet from 17 September

Ibiza JoySail 2026 is preparing to bring a 20-superyacht fleet to the Balearics from 17 to 20 September, with racing based from Marina Ibiza. The sixth edition of the regatta will feature sailing yachts ranging from approximately 80 to 147 feet, bringing together established returning competitors and a substantial group of first-time entrants.

The fleet has drawn yachts from nine major builders, with Southern Wind represented by seven yachts and Nautor Swan by five. Vitters, Baltic Yachts, Pendennis, Oyster, Wally, YYachts, J.O.M. Holland and Sensation are also represented, giving the 2026 field one of the broadest builder mixes yet assembled for the event.

Eight returning yachts meet twelve first-time entries

The returning fleet includes Aurelius, Cervo, Gelliceaux, Karibu, Liberty Squared, Moat, Morgana and Nostromo. Their previous Ibiza JoySail experience will be tested by twelve yachts entering the regatta for the first time: Bella, Fortissimo, Atalante, Inoui, Kalantis, Kiboko III, Mari Cha III, Ocho, Point Counter Point, Rose, Starfall and Win Win.

That mix gives the event a useful competitive balance. Returning crews already understand the local conditions and race format, while several of the newcomers have extensive international racing experience and arrive with the performance potential to challenge immediately.

The Mallorca–Ibiza record remains open until 16 September

Before the main regatta begins, eligible yachts can attempt the Ibiza JoySail Perpetual Trophy course between Punta Cala Figuera in Mallorca and Tagomago off Ibiza. The 48-nautical-mile passage provides a separate speed challenge and remains open until 16 September.

The current benchmark was set by the 59-metre Maximus in 2025 at 3 hours 31 minutes. Ibiza JoySail has identified Win Win, Gelliceaux, Point Counter Point, Fortissimo and Rose among the yachts capable of mounting a serious challenge if weather conditions provide a suitable record window.

Four days of racing around Ibiza and Formentera

Registration is scheduled for 16 September before racing begins on Thursday 17 September. Starts are planned around midday on each of the four race days, with courses making use of the waters around Ibiza and Formentera before the fleet returns to Marina Ibiza.

For the superyacht sector, Ibiza JoySail has developed into more than a seasonal social event. Its growing fleet brings large performance sailing yachts into direct competition while giving owners, crews, builders and technical teams a concentrated end-of-summer meeting point in the western Mediterranean.
