Marinetek Adriatic will supply 38 pontoons for six new piers at Agios Kosmas Marina within the €8bn Ellinikon redevelopment; first deliveries are planned for February 2027.

Six new piers for the Athens Riviera

Marinetek Adriatic has secured a contract to manufacture floating pontoons for the redevelopment of Agios Kosmas Marina on the Athens Riviera, adding a substantial piece of infrastructure to the Ellinikon coastal regeneration programme. The contract with LAMDA Development was signed on 14 October 2026 and calls for 38 pontoons arranged to create six new piers.

The development concerns actual equipment procurement and an announced delivery schedule, not a completed marina opening. Marinetek says the first units are due to arrive in February 2027, with installation planned ahead of the following boating season. That timetable is dependent on construction and site readiness and should not be represented as an unconditional operational guarantee.

A marina designed to accommodate larger yachts

Agios Kosmas is being reshaped as part of the southern Athens waterfront, with the wider plans providing for yachts up to 80 metres long. The developer has identified 337 berths for the marina on completion of the first phase. This makes the scheme directly relevant to superyacht captains and managers seeking new options near the Greek capital.

A maximum design length is not a promise that every berth can receive an 80-metre yacht. Individual positions differ in width, approach room, depths and the services available. Captains should rely on current berthing plans and harbour regulations rather than a single figure in a development announcement.

Thirty-eight Premier pontoons in production

The contract specifies 38 Marinetek Premier series pontoons, with the six proposed piers measuring four metres wide. A generous pontoon width can help with the movement of people and equipment in a busy marina, although the final design must also account for loading, accessibility, lighting and provision of utility services.

Floating structures must respond to wave conditions, changing water levels and the loads imposed by mooring lines. The manufacturer's engineering and installation plans therefore matter as much as the visual appearance of the promenade. Independent design approvals and commissioning will establish the completed piers' operational limits.

The contract signing brings several teams together

Marinetek Group chief executive Karri Kaitue attended the signing, along with the company's Greek consultant Theofanis Karagiannis and Marinetek Adriatic managing director Boris Miškić. LAMDA Development was represented by senior development director Theodoros Iakovidis and members of its contracts and project management teams.

The involvement of both manufacturing and development personnel reflects the need to coordinate a pontoon programme with other waterfront works. Delivering components before the shoreside structures are ready can create storage and scheduling problems. A clear interface between the supplier and main contractor is particularly important on a project where public spaces and marina facilities are being built together.

An €8-billion development surrounds the marina

The marina is one element of The Ellinikon, a wider regeneration project with an indicated value of approximately eight billion euros. The programme is transforming the former Athens international airport site and adjoining waterfront through residential neighbourhoods, hotels, parkland, commercial areas and public amenities.

That headline investment value belongs to the complete urban development and must not be quoted as the price of the marina contract. The pontoon award is a specific component within a much larger undertaking. For superyacht visitors, the eventual combination of berthing and landside facilities may be as important as the appearance of any individual dock.

Why the location matters for cruising

The Athens Riviera serves yachts arriving from or departing toward the Saronic Gulf and the Cyclades, while Athens itself provides international flight connections, medical services, provisions and engineering support. Additional superyacht capacity could offer captains more flexibility when planning crew changes, guest movements and periods between charter itineraries.

The convenience will depend on practical details such as road access, customs arrangements where applicable, fueling capacity and security once the marina is operating. A high-profile waterfront address does not in itself establish whether a particular vessel can complete every required procedure on site.

Manufacturing and construction have different milestones

The February 2027 arrival target covers the first batch of pontoon elements. Installation, connection to utilities, inspections and acceptance are separate stages that may take place later. The announced intention to complete the work before the start of the new season is therefore a programme objective that should be monitored against subsequent site reports.

For yacht managers considering a future call, early inquiries can identify expected berth sizes and reservations policy. However, contracts for a season should not rely solely on publicised construction targets. Contingency berths and documented confirmation of operational facilities remain sensible until the new piers are commissioned.

A practical expansion of Greece's yacht infrastructure

Agios Kosmas demonstrates how large-yacht tourism is becoming part of broader city and waterfront investment, rather than being treated solely as a seasonal marina business. The proposed ability to receive yachts up to 80 metres gives the site potential importance within the eastern Mediterranean's network of large-vessel destinations.

The confirmed October milestone is Marinetek Adriatic's signed pontoon contract for six new piers and a stated February 2027 delivery start. The commercial and operational results will depend on successful construction and service provision. Owners and captains should watch for confirmed opening details rather than assume the planned infrastructure is available today.
