Baglietto CEO Diego Michele Deprati outlines a planned 62m T62 accommodating the BZero hydrogen system and confirms early work on a new 75m model.
Baglietto is developing a 62-metre evolution of its T60 superyacht platform, with space planned for the yard’s BZero hydrogen technology. Chief executive Diego Michele Deprati disclosed the direction in an interview conducted at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show and published on 8 October. It is a design-development decision, not an announcement that a completed T62 has been launched or handed over.
The first T60 has entered service, while Deprati says two additional 60-metre yachts have already been sold and are under construction for delivery in 2028 and 2029. He describes the projected 62-metre vessel as the next step in that lineage, with Francesco Paszkowski working to integrate the new technical elements without compromising the yacht’s exterior appearance. The sequencing matters because it distinguishes existing contracts from an emerging product proposal.
Baglietto’s BZero project combines the production and storage of hydrogen with fuel-cell technology. In the system described by the shipyard, purified seawater can be used to produce hydrogen through electrolysis, preferably with electricity from renewable sources; the hydrogen is then stored at low pressure in metal hydrides. Fuel cells are intended to supplement a hybrid or diesel-electric yacht’s electrical architecture.
The programme has involved specialist partners including Arco Technologies, BluEnergy Revolution, Enapter, H2Boat, Siemens Energy and classification society RINA. Integration into a superyacht involves more than placing equipment in a machinery space: storage volume, heat management, ventilation, emergency protection and maintainability all require careful engineering. The T62 remains a proposed application, and no verified performance or endurance figures for that yacht have been released.
Deprati told PressMare that buyers do not always recognise the financial value of hybrid and hydrogen technologies, particularly when they increase the complexity of systems they will use for relatively short cruising periods. Baglietto is therefore considering whether the alternative-energy installation should be part of the T62 project’s core engineering proposition rather than an unusual option added late in the specification process.
He also identified crew preparation and reliability as substantial concerns. A yacht with innovative machinery must still be straightforward for engineers to operate and service during the owner’s time aboard. These remarks do not amount to an announced commercial package or a guarantee of zero-emission cruising; they explain the yard’s thinking as the integration work continues.
Alongside the T62, Baglietto is examining a future yacht of approximately 75 metres and about 2,000 GT. Deprati said this would be a Baglietto-designed project rather than a design developed from a single client’s brief, although the propulsion approach is still under discussion. No firm build contract, delivery date or final technical specification was disclosed for the larger proposal.
The yard says it has roughly twenty contracts under way together with four projects being built on speculation, providing a business backdrop for work above its current 60-metre benchmark. The CEO also indicated that expansion of production capacity may be necessary if the range continues to move upward. Taken together, the T62 and 75-metre studies show Baglietto exploring scale and energy systems, but the distinction between development plans and commissioned construction remains essential for prospective owners.
