33.1m Cantiere delle Marche Explorer Ammonite Delivered

Cantiere delle Marche has delivered the 33.1-metre explorer yacht Ammonite, bringing the fourth Nauta Air 110 to completion after her launch in July. The delivery closes a project developed for highly experienced owners whose long-distance cruising background shaped both the yacht’s technical priorities and the way her interior and exterior spaces are intended to be used at sea.

Ammonite was built at Cantiere delle Marche in Ancona with exterior and interior design by Nauta Design and naval architecture and engineering by Hydro Tec. The yacht combines a steel hull, long-range machinery and substantial tankage with an interior brief centred on openness, informality and a close connection to the water, giving the Nauta Air platform a strongly owner-specific interpretation.

A Nauta Air 110 shaped by experienced owners

The project follows a long relationship between Nauta Design and the owners, who had previously commissioned two large semi-custom sailing yachts from the studio. Cantiere delle Marche said at launch that the new motor yacht was conceived for owners accustomed to extended cruising in remote areas, where reliability, autonomy and practical operation are as important as styling and onboard comfort.

That background influenced the yacht’s overall character. Rather than treating the Nauta Air 110 as a conventional luxury platform, the project was developed around the habits of owners familiar with ocean passages and extended time aboard. The result combines the robust engineering expected of an explorer yacht with the lighter visual language and connection to nature associated with Nauta’s sailing-yacht work, while preserving the self-sufficiency needed for remote cruising.

33.07 metres of long-range capability

Ammonite measures 33.07 metres overall, 29.63 metres at the waterline and 7.55 metres across the beam, with a full-load draught of 2.35 metres. Cantiere delle Marche lists a full-load displacement of 250 tonnes, fuel capacity of 42,970 litres and fresh-water capacity of 6,480 litres, figures that underline the yacht’s role as a compact but genuinely long-range explorer rather than a coastal cruising platform.

Propulsion comes from twin Caterpillar C18 Acert IMO Tier III engines rated at 533kW each, supported by two 57kW Nanni Energy generators. The builder publishes a maximum speed of 13 knots and a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, giving the yacht the endurance required for extended passages while retaining the moderate operating speeds typical of the Nauta Air concept.

Nauta Design links interior and exterior spaces

Nauta Design was responsible for both the exterior lines and the interiors, allowing the same design approach to run through the entire yacht. The layout places particular emphasis on continuity between inside and outside, with large openings and generous exterior areas intended to make the surrounding environment part of everyday life onboard rather than something viewed only through glazing.

The owners requested interiors that combine roominess with a warm, fresh atmosphere closer to a beach house than a formal superyacht interior. Natural materials, soft textures and restrained detailing support that brief, while the platform’s generous beam provides the volume needed to maintain practical circulation and usable guest spaces without losing the understated character the design team was seeking.

Beach platform and sundeck become key social areas

Outdoor living is central to Ammonite’s arrangement. The large beach platform gives direct access to the sea, while the sundeck is conceived as one of the yacht’s principal social spaces, reflecting an ownership style built around time spent outside rather than a hierarchy of enclosed formal rooms. The cream-toned hull and clean explorer profile reinforce the deliberately restrained approach adopted by the design team.

Accommodation is arranged for ten owners and guests in five cabins, with two additional Pullman berths, while crew accommodation is for five in three cabins. The yacht also carries 8,400 litres of black and grey-water capacity, a less visible but important part of the operational specification for a vessel intended to spend extended periods away from major marina infrastructure.

Delivery turns the project into an active cruising yacht

Ammonite’s delivery marks the transition from a development and construction programme that extended over more than two years into active ownership. The July launch brought the yacht into the water, but handover is the point at which the engineering, accommodation and operational choices made during the project begin to be tested through real cruising rather than design review, commissioning and sea-trial preparation.

For Cantiere delle Marche, the handover adds another completed yacht to a Nauta Air family developed around the combination of explorer capability and a less formal approach to onboard living. For the owners, Ammonite continues an established pattern of long-range cruising under the same name, this time on a steel-hulled motor yacht designed to carry the experience gained from years of sailing into a new type of platform.
