Caster Concepts introduces a reinforced 91HD industrial caster family with up to 25,000lb capacity per caster for heavy marine manufacturing and material handling.
Caster Concepts has presented its 91HD heavy-duty caster family with a stated maximum load rating of 25,000 pounds per caster in suitable configurations. The Albion, Michigan, manufacturer lists marine operations among the industries that may use the system, alongside aerospace, manufacturing, defence and modular construction. This is a component for moving heavy industrial equipment and structures, not a device for steering or supporting a yacht afloat.
The development was outlined in a 21 September 2026 manufacturer release and highlighted for the IBEX industry audience. The company describes single- and dual-wheel versions intended to provide stronger swivel operation and improved serviceability in challenging handling environments. Its quoted maximum rating must not be mistaken for the safe capacity of an entire trolley or any particular wheel assembly, because that depends on its full engineering configuration.
Caster Concepts says the 91HD swivel design uses a single-ball race arrangement intended to keep the bearing loaded in an advantageous direction during movement. Heat-treated raceways and yokes, reinforced legs and platforms, protected swivel bearings and a grease fitting are all identified as features intended to limit wear and downtime. These are useful traits where a mobile unit moves slowly under substantial loads.
Heavy-load handling is governed by the weakest part of the entire system, including the frame, attachment bolts, floor and available manoeuvring space. A caster carrying a stated vertical load must still be selected for side forces, impact, slopes, dynamic motion and braking requirements. Even apparently modest changes in flooring, turning angles or centre of gravity can alter whether a particular wheeled platform is safe to move.
Potential marine applications include mobile tooling fixtures, large workshop assemblies, fabrication jigs and movement of heavy service components between work areas. A refit yard shifting machinery modules or prefabricated equipment may benefit from an engineered platform that can be inspected and maintained rather than improvising temporary wheels beneath an expensive component.
The 91HD announcement does not say that a superyacht yard has ordered or installed a specific platform. Neither should the 25,000-pound figure be translated directly into a complete yacht lifting or transport capacity. Vessel hoisting, blocking, transporter design and lifting plans are specialised disciplines subject to engineered equipment, approved operating procedures and site-specific load calculations.
Based in Michigan, Caster Concepts makes industrial casters, wheels and mobile handling solutions for high-load applications. The company promotes the 91HD as an option with a reinforced construction and accessible lubrication points, enabling buyers to balance high capacity against the service demands of frequent movement.
For superyacht operators, the most practical significance is behind the scenes: a builder's ability to move expensive assemblies reliably can affect workshop efficiency and damage risk during outfitting or refit. The final selection remains an engineering task involving caster configuration, exact load rating, wheel material, floor condition and a documented safety margin. Product specifications and compatibility should be verified directly with the supplier before an installation is designed.
