D-Marin UAE marina customers can now access marine insurance advice and risk-management services through ult. Insurance, with placement and claims handled by the broker.
D-Marin has introduced access to specialist yacht insurance and risk-management advice for owners using its marinas in the United Arab Emirates. The service is provided through a partnership with ult. Insurance, part of the Chedid Insurance Brokers network, and is designed to help customers review the protection suited to their vessels and operating plans.
The company announced the initiative in September 2026 as part of a wider approach to customer support. The marina operator serves as an introduction point, rather than becoming the insurer or broker placing policies and handling claims on behalf of yacht owners.
That distinction matters because every vessel has a different exposure to machinery failure, damage, liability and personal injury. A yacht moving between different cruising grounds may also require careful consideration of geographic limits, crew arrangements and obligations imposed by charter activity.
Through ult. Insurance, D-Marin customers may receive a review of existing policy terms and recommendations for cover relevant to their use of the yacht. The company identifies hull and machinery insurance, protection and indemnity arrangements and personal accident protection as potential parts of a tailored programme.
Hull and machinery cover typically addresses damage to the yacht itself, while liability insurance concerns responsibilities owed to third parties. Personal accident arrangements can help address particular risks affecting people aboard, although the extent of benefits depends on the policy and the status of those individuals.
Owners should not assume that all risks are automatically covered by every product carrying a familiar insurance label. Exclusions, deductibles, named cruising limits, survey requirements and the conditions of crew cover can make two apparently similar policies behave very differently following an incident.
A yacht manager's risk review often starts with the practical condition of the vessel. Classification requirements, flag regulations, firefighting systems, navigation equipment, tender operations and the work of professional crew all influence the hazards that need to be understood.
Changing the itinerary or planning a major refit can create new exposures. Operations during a lift, work by specialist contractors and time spent out of service may need to be addressed explicitly rather than relying on a policy designed for ordinary leisure cruising.
D-Marin says its service will give marina customers a dedicated point of contact and access to structured support during claims. However, the company makes clear that policy advice, placement and claims management remain the responsibility of ult. Insurance, not the marina staff.
The announcement applies to D-Marin customers using the group's UAE marinas, not automatically to every location in its international network. Owners who spend time in both Gulf and Mediterranean ports should therefore confirm the applicable terms and arrangements before assuming that the service follows them throughout the year.
D-Marin also points to the possibility of collective buying power when placing cover for multiple vessels. Whether any particular owner receives different pricing or broader conditions depends on underwriting, the yacht's profile and the terms actually quoted by the insurer.
The initiative illustrates how marina services are extending beyond berth reservations towards the wider practical needs of ownership. It is not a guarantee of lower insurance premiums, a new compulsory policy or confirmation that D-Marin itself has become an insurance provider.
