Focus Yacht Design has unveiled the 52-metre UNITY concept, pairing a nine-metre-beam semi-displacement hull with projected performance of up to 23 knots.

A new 52-metre concept puts sporty cruising first

Focus Yacht Design has presented UNITY, a 52-metre superyacht concept combining a sporty exterior profile with the comfort and scale associated with custom-built yachts. The Bremen design studio published the project on October 14, 2026, describing a vessel intended to make active cruising and relaxed time aboard equally important.

UNITY is an early-stage design proposition, not a completed vessel, a signed new-build contract or a shipyard delivery. Its stated dimensions, performance and accommodation are the studio's design brief and will need to be developed with a future builder and owner before construction begins.

Semi-displacement hull and projected speed

The project features a semi-displacement hull with an announced nine-metre beam and an indicative top speed of 23 knots. Such a configuration could give owners a different balance of internal volume and transit speed from traditional full-displacement explorers, depending on the final engineering and installed propulsion.

Focus Yacht Design has not published independently verified sea-trial results for UNITY because the yacht has not been built. Maximum speed is therefore a target rather than a demonstrated capability, and actual fuel use and range will depend on the final hull design, machinery, load and conditions.

Flybridge designed for activity and social space

The studio's imagery places a prominent flybridge above the main decks, with an open-air helm, sports lounge, jacuzzi and generous areas for sunbathing. The combination puts recreational life in a more elevated setting while preserving space for people to move between activities.

These leisure zones would require careful technical integration if commissioned, including structural loading, drainage, sound control, guest circulation and equipment maintenance. A drawing can convey the intended atmosphere but does not establish final construction details or how an owner would customise the layout.

Private owner space with guest accommodation

Focus Yacht Design describes a large owner's suite on the main deck, providing direct access to a private area separate from the guest cabin arrangement below. The concept also includes comfortable guest accommodation, although the published presentation does not specify a verified final guest count or a detailed general arrangement for sale.

At 52 metres, privacy and movement through the yacht are central design questions. Crew passageways, guest service routes, machinery access and evacuation requirements ultimately shape how much usable space can be devoted to luxury accommodation.

Propulsion options remain open

The studio explicitly refers to flexible propulsion options rather than fixing the project to one named engine package. That is consistent with a custom concept where the future owner may have preferences for speed, range, emissions, shore-power capability and the level of electrical energy storage aboard.

No specific hybrid battery capacity, autonomy figure, fuel saving or regulatory certification has been established in the studio's published summary. Any such figures would require a detailed technical proposal from the eventual naval architect, engineering partners and shipyard.

A design pitch rather than a market-ready yacht

UNITY's combination of a low, fast silhouette and spacious upper-deck features is aimed at prospective owners who want a more sporting character without surrendering extensive guest facilities. It is part of Focus Yacht Design's broader portfolio, which includes both built yachts and speculative custom studies.

The difference matters in reporting: an announcement about a design being available to develop is not equivalent to a construction order, a sold hull or a launch. An owner considering the concept would still need to define the project specification, shipyard selection, budget and contract schedule.

Original images and project source

The official UNITY project page provides the studio's October 2026 description and its original design renderings. Those images illustrate a proposed yacht, rather than showing sea trials or a completed physical hull.

The next substantive milestone would be confirmation of a builder or owner-backed engineering programme. Until then, UNITY is best understood as a new 52-metre concept that illustrates the design studio's view of performance-oriented superyacht living.
