Garmin’s LiveScope 2 Series improves real-time sonar resolution, target separation and range while simplifying installation with direct MFD connectivity.

Higher resolution extends live sonar reach

Garmin has introduced the LiveScope 2 Series with higher resolution, improved noise reduction and expanded coverage compared with the previous generation. The standard LVS44 model delivers 20 percent more resolution and 25 percent more range, reaching out to 250 feet in suitable conditions.

The LiveScope 2 HD variant is optimized for shorter working distances and offers up to 50 percent more detail at closer ranges. Both versions retain Forward, Down and Perspective modes so crews can adapt the view to different operating situations.

Installation becomes simpler

The new transducers connect directly to a compatible Garmin multifunction display and power source, removing the separate black box used by earlier installations. That change reduces component count, wiring and the amount of space required behind the helm or electronics cabinet.

Integrated sensors include water detection and temperature measurement, while image stabilization and lower latency are designed to keep the displayed picture cleaner as the vessel moves. The package also supports mounting options for different operating angles without tools.

A broader connected sonar system

LiveScope 2 can integrate with other Garmin marine products, including the Spy Pole and GT360UHD systems, to create a broader picture around the vessel. That allows operators to combine live forward-looking information with additional sonar perspectives from the same electronics ecosystem.

Although the system is aimed primarily at fishing applications, the underlying improvements in real-time underwater awareness are relevant to tenders, chase boats and specialist support craft. The launch also shows how quickly high-resolution sonar technology is moving into smaller, more integrated onboard packages.
