HikoTerra adds distributors and technical partners for the modular H⁴ Hybrid Power System, with configurations allowing up to 30kW of inversion and 96kWh of battery storage.

New distributor appointments for onboard power

New Zealand marine power company HikoTerra has expanded the sales and technical support network for its H⁴ Hybrid Power System, adding distributors across Europe, the Americas, Australia and Asia. The company reported the appointments on 16 October 2026 as it seeks to make its modular battery-first electrical platform easier for boatbuilders, installers and owners to obtain.

This is a distribution expansion rather than the release of an entirely new electrical system. H⁴ was introduced in 2025, and the practical significance of the latest announcement is the establishment of regional contacts that can assist with planning, supply and post-installation support.

Europe gains several dedicated suppliers

Allpa marine equipment will cover Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, while allpa GmbH will serve Germany. Meridian Projekt has been appointed for Croatia and Slovenia, bringing an established regional marine-electronics business into the network.

These territories include major cruising grounds and shipyard service centres. Owners of larger yachts may benefit when replacement components or an installation specialist can be reached locally, but actual stocking and commissioning capabilities should be confirmed with each distributor before work is scheduled.

Partners across the Pacific and the Americas

DragonShore will represent HikoTerra in Taiwan, Electra Service will handle Brazil from Guarujá and Sure Power Industries will support customers in Australia. Each organisation is expected to provide a point of contact for system selection and supply within its own market.

Battery and inverter equipment needs more than a sales brochure because installation choices affect protection, ventilation, monitoring and the integration of the yacht's other power sources. Professional support at an appropriate location can therefore matter as much as the advertised capacity of the modules.

Additional technical support in the US and UK

HikoTerra also named three technical partners beyond the new distributors. Adventure Systems & Support will cover the US Midwest and Central region, Pelagic Power will serve the US West Coast and Plymouth Marine Electronics will support customers in the United Kingdom.

Some of these firms also work with expedition vehicles, which can share requirements for compact power storage and multiple charging sources. That crossover does not establish suitability for every yacht installation, particularly when commercial marine standards, class requirements or unusual machinery arrangements apply.

A modular architecture for hybrid electrical systems

The H⁴ platform combines 10kW bidirectional inverters, lithium iron phosphate battery blocks rated at 8kWh each and 200-amp chargers. An integrated rack and backplane are intended to reduce the amount of external heavy-gauge DC cabling and separate protection hardware required.

Modular construction can make configuration more flexible, but the completed system still needs protection, isolation and correctly specified cables for its actual loads. Owners should evaluate system documentation and commissioning requirements rather than assume a smaller number of visible wires guarantees a simple installation.

Up to 30kW of inversion and 96kWh storage

Depending on configuration, HikoTerra quotes a maximum inverter capacity of 30kW and battery storage of up to 96kWh. Its charging options can include shore connections, solar generation and engine alternators, allowing electricity to be gathered and stored in several ways.

Those are published configuration limits, not a guarantee of running every appliance for a particular number of hours. Air-conditioning, galley equipment, stabilisation and entertainment can create very different load profiles, especially on a large motor yacht. A proper electrical survey and load calculation remain essential.

Where battery-first operation can be useful

Stored electrical energy may help a yacht support selected hotel loads without starting a diesel generator for every short period of demand. Such arrangements can potentially reduce local noise and exhaust while a yacht is at anchor, particularly where charging can be handled through suitable shore or renewable sources.

The environmental result depends on how the batteries are recharged and on the wider vessel's machinery. Owners should not interpret the existence of a battery system as evidence that a yacht has become emission-free or that its propulsion operates electrically.

Integration and service determine the result

HikoTerra chief executive Mark Harnett said the new regional partners have knowledge of builders and installers in their markets and should help customers select the right system. That is a useful objective in a sector where power-equipment faults can interrupt a vessel's normal cruising and guest programme.

For an owner or yacht manager evaluating H⁴, the next step is a detailed specification review covering certification, thermal management, battery monitoring, warranties and compatibility with the yacht's existing electrical architecture. The confirmed October news is the wider distributor and technical-support network, not a performance guarantee for any specific vessel.
