Metstrade Opens 2026 Next Generation Propulsion Showcase

Metstrade opened applications for the second edition of its Next Generation Propulsion Showcase, broadening the programme after its inaugural year. The 2026 showcase is intended to bring electric and hybrid systems, alternative fuels, advanced propulsion technology, system integration and zero-emission solutions into one specialist exhibition area.

Broader propulsion technologies

The programme is being developed with the International Electric Marine Association, combining Metstrade's international exhibition audience with specialist technical expertise in emerging propulsion systems. The organisers said the objective is to show technologies that are moving beyond concept work and changing how builders approach efficiency, packaging and emissions.

Electric and hybrid propulsion remain an important part of the showcase, but the scope extends to alternative fuels and other advanced systems. This wider definition reflects the fact that the marine industry's decarbonisation pathway is unlikely to depend on one propulsion architecture across every yacht and vessel type.

Part of Metstrade's technology programme

The showcase will sit within Metstrade 2026 at RAI Amsterdam, giving participating companies access to an international audience of builders, designers, engineers and equipment specialists. Display positions are limited and applications are assessed for technical relevance and alignment with the programme's forward-looking focus.

For the superyacht sector, the programme is particularly relevant because propulsion decisions increasingly interact with onboard electrical loads, battery capacity, machinery-space planning and future fuel availability. The showcase therefore sits at the intersection of engineering development, yacht design and environmental performance.
