Royal Huisman has highlighted Norway, the Baltic, Scotland and the North Sea as alternatives to crowded Mediterranean summer cruising.
Royal Huisman is encouraging owners to consider the North Sea, Baltic, Norway and Scotland as alternatives to peak-season Mediterranean cruising. The yard points to lower crowding, dramatic scenery and access to cultural destinations as the main attractions.
Norway is particularly suited to large sailing yachts because deep fjords and sheltered islands allow vessels to cruise close to steep mountain landscapes. Long summer daylight also changes the daily rhythm compared with southern European itineraries.
The yard cites yachts such as the 47-metre Hyperion as examples of large sailing yachts that have operated successfully in Scandinavian waters. Charter programmes have also developed dedicated northern itineraries as owners seek destinations beyond traditional Mediterranean circuits.
Amsterdam and Dutch service infrastructure can provide a practical stop between northern cruising areas and the wider European yacht network. Huisfit can also combine yard periods with itinerary planning when technical work is required.
Royal Huisman notes that Huisfit can convert existing yachts toward hybrid operation, a capability that could become more valuable as zero-emission zones expand in sensitive cruising areas. Northern destinations may place increasing emphasis on local environmental controls.
The message reflects a broader diversification of superyacht itineraries. Owners are looking for quieter anchorages and expedition-style experiences without necessarily committing to full polar operations, and northern Europe offers that middle ground.
