Royal Huisman has launched Project Tidal Shift, an ESG-led programme spanning sustainable yacht design, refit, facilities, suppliers and workforce practices.
Royal Huisman has launched Project Tidal Shift as a company-wide framework for environmental, social and governance work. The initiative brings together Royal Huisman, Rondal and Huisfit and is intended to influence both yacht projects and the facilities used to build them.
The yard says sustainable options are increasingly introduced during sales, quotation and design rather than being treated as upgrades late in a project. That makes energy efficiency and lower-impact systems part of the earliest owner conversations.
Royal Huisman has added solar panels, charging infrastructure, hybrid vehicles, electric forklifts, LED lighting and waste-separation systems across its facilities. Suppliers and clients are also included in the programme because much of a yacht’s environmental footprint sits outside the yard itself.
New-build and refit projects can incorporate hybrid propulsion, energy-saving hotel systems and other technologies depending on the owner’s operating profile. Huisfit also offers conversion work intended to improve the efficiency of yachts already in service.
Project Tidal Shift is not limited to emissions or energy use. Royal Huisman includes workforce education, safety, inclusion and long-term skills development within the same ESG framework.
The programme reflects the wider shift in superyacht construction toward measurable operational standards rather than isolated environmental claims. Owners and regulators increasingly expect shipyards to explain how sustainability affects both the yacht and the organisation behind it.
