Fischer Panda UK has added Instagrid equipment to its range of power solutions for marine customers. The battery systems are intended for temporary applications such as working around boats, boatyards and places without a suitable fixed electrical connection.

This is a distribution development rather than a new vessel-integrated generator announced for every yacht. A portable unit must be evaluated against the loads and environment in which it will be used.

A compact unit and system options

The Instagrid ONE is described in the announcement as a portable system weighing around twenty kilograms with 3.6kW continuous output. Additional LINK products provide other configuration possibilities.

Those figures must be checked against the final supplied specification and the tools being connected. The equipment’s output does not automatically establish a safe method for connecting into a yacht’s own electrical system.

Uses during a yard period

Technicians may value a power source for individual tools, temporary inspections and work away from shore outlets. Proper protection from water and secure positioning remain essential around a marine environment.

The operating arrangements should follow supplier instructions and any relevant yard procedures. Battery power is not inherently risk-free simply because it avoids running a portable combustion generator.
